History

In 1905, the Freemasons of Thermopolis built a 5,760 square foot two-story brick and stone hall at 521 Arapahoe Street that is still in use in 2021.  After a construction fraught with challenges, the Masonic Temple of Thermopolis, WY, was completed December 24, 1905, at a total cost of $11,368.08.

Malta Lodge #17 has been the only building used by the local Freemasons for their lodge meetings since being built in 1905.

Eastern Star, Jobs’ Daughters, DeMolay, York and Scottish Rites, and Shriners have (and most still do) continue to meet in the Lodge as well.
